7 Things You Should Know Before Traveling to Indonesia

Indonesia is one Southeast Asian country, one of the famous tourist attractions are the island of Bali, Komodo Island, Bunaken Island, and much more. Before you go, you should know 7 things about Indonesia.

1. The Price of Food in Indonesia

In Indonesia, the price of one serving of fried rice ranged from Rp. 13.000 - 25.000,- if you buy it at Street Food, but if you buy it in the restaurant it costs about Rp. 50.000 - 75.000,-
For a cup of coffee, you need to spend about Rp. 5000,- at street food or Rp. 25.000,- at Cafe or Coffe Corner.
If you want to go McD to order a serving of medium french fries, a bottle of Pepsi, 1 regular burger you need to spend about Rp. 36.000,- so cheap right?

2. Lodging and Hotel Prices Rate

Now let's talk about a place to sleep, usually the price of a hotel depending on the distance of the hotel to the city or airport, the closer then the price will also be more expensive. For a hotel close to the airport or city with 1 big bed complete with air conditioning facility will be around Rp. 500,000 - 1,000,000 / night.
For hotels in the suburbs is relatively cheaper, but of course, it will make your place stay away from the city center or entertainment venue, ranging from Rp. 300,000 - 700,000 / night.

3. Transportation

In Indonesia, there is much public transportation that you can use, bus ticket price for one way is Rp. 5000 - 10,000 with a route around the city, sometimes the bus you ride does not go directly to your destination so you have to change the bus, you can change the bus to get to your destination without paying again as long as you do not get out of the bus stop. Keep in mind, if not too important avoid using taxi because taxi fares here are quite expensive. If you want to visit an area that is not covered by a bus such as rural or small towns you can use online transportation such as Uber, Grab, or GoJek that can drive you to the destination.

4. Internet Service

Wherever you're on vacation I'm sure you don't want to miss the news or get out of social media, because the internet is already a part of life wherever we are. There are many mobile data service providers in Indonesia you can use, here I would recommend mobile data service provider from Telkomsel. Because Telkomsel is the largest mobile data service provider in Indonesia. You can use another mobile data service provider but sometimes when you are in the countryside or small town the coverage of the signal is not as good as that given by Telkomsel. For 1 GB data service costs about Rp. 60.000 while for 4GB data service cost about Rp. 200,000.

5. Emergency Number

No one wants to get into trouble wherever we are, but if we get a problem or get an emergency situation, you can call the following numbers:

  • Police phone number: 110
  • Ambulance phone number: 118 and 119
  • S.A.R (Search And Rescue) phone number: 115
  • Emergency disaster phone number: 129
  • Fire's department phone number: 113 and 1131
6. Tour Guide

If you want to be easier in exploring the various vacation spots, you can hire the services of a tour guide. Many locals are willing to be your tour guide, the price is also quite cheap. Price for 2 persons for 6 hours guides about Rp. 500,000 and Rp. 700.000 for 10 hours, all including cars, drivers, fuel, and entrance tickets.

7. Be Part of The Community

Indonesia is a friendly country, if you are on holiday to Indonesia try to socialize with the local people. they will be happy to welcome you and will help you if you need help. That way you can also learn the cultures there, and feel the preciousness of the time we have with people from all the worlds we visit.

Those are some things that I can share for those of you who want to vacation in Indonesia, I really apologize if my English is so bad because I just want to share to you and hope you are always given ease in every trip. Have a good vacation...
